The Hoogeveen Chess Tournament will be held from Saturday 15th October through Saturday 22th October 2022. The tournament consists of the Hoogeveen Matches, the Hoogeveen Open and an amateur tournaments. All tournaments will take place in the attractive town hall of Hoogeveen. In the chess café, well-known commentators will analyse the games with the audience. The games can also be followed live on this website. 

Hoogeveen Open
In the Hoogeveen Open, 9 rounds will be played. After the 7th round, the top 4 qualifies for the semi-finals and finals to decide the top prizes of the Open tournament. The remaining players of the Open group will play a regular 8th and 9th round. On wednesday a double round will be played. There is space for approximately 128 players. There is no minimal rating. The Hoogeveen Open is an international tournament, and consequently (grand-) master norms can be achieved.

Amateur tournament
The tournament is for players with a rating up to 2100. The group can contain a maximum of 128 players. They play 7 rounds. Wednesday is a free day.
The results will be submitted to KNSB and FIDE for rating calculations.

Rate of play
The rate of play for the Hoogeveen Open is 40 moves in 90 minutes, 30 minutes extra time + an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.
The rate of play for the Amateur Group is 40 moves in 90 minutes, 30 minutes extra time + an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

Registration before first round
All players are required to check in at the tournament desk before the first round.
Open tournament: Saturday 15th October between 12.00-13.00h
Amateur: Saturday 15th October between 8.00-8.30h
If you do not check in on time, another participant may be paired in your place. There will also be an opportunity to check in by mail. You will get information about that a week before the tournament.

To register for the event you can use the entry form, at the same time transferring the entry fee on bank account number

The entry fee for the Open Tournament is € 90; entrance is free for IGMs and IMs; FMs pay € 60; youth players, born in or after 2004, also pay € 60.
Entrance fee for either of the amateur tournament is € 60 for all participants.

The payment of the fee must be done beforehand.
Only if you have registered as well as paid on time you will be certain of participation.
