The Hoogeveen Chess Tournament will be held from Saturday, 10 October through Saturday, 17 October 2026. It consists of four tournaments: a morning tournament for recreational players, an afternoon tournament for amateurs, the Hoogeveen Open, and the Crown Group.
The field of participants for the Crown Group is currently being assembled.
Location: Hoogeveen Town Hall. Games can be followed live via this website.
Hoogeveen Open
Start: Saturday, 10 October. Maximum of 66 players, 9 rounds. Double round on Wednesday, 14 October. Minimum rating: 2000.
Players who register for the Open but do not meet the rating requirement will automatically be placed in the Amateur Afternoon group. A wildcard can be requested by emailing secretariaat@hoogeveenchess.nl.
Amateur Tournament – Afternoon
Start: Saturday, 10 October. Maximum of 100 players, 9 rounds. Double round on Wednesday, 14 October. Maximum rating: 2100.
Amateur Tournament – Morning
Start: Saturday, 10 October. Maximum of 166 participants, 7 rounds. Wednesday, 14 October is a rest day. Maximum rating: 2100.
Time Controls
- Open & Afternoon: 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by an additional 30 minutes, with a 30-second increment from move 1.
- Morning: 90 minutes, with a 30-second increment from move 1.

Check-in for the first round will take place by email, telephone, or messaging app. Participants will be informed in advance.

- Open: €100. Free for GMs and IMs, €70 for FMs and junior players born in or after 2008.
- Amateur Morning: €70 for all participants.
- Amateur Afternoon: €90. €70 for junior players born in or after 2008.
