The Hoogeveen Chess Tournament 2023 will be held from Saturday 21 to Saturday 28 October. The tournament consists of two entertaining matches, an amateur tournament in the morning hours and the Hoogeveen Open in the afternoon hours.
The tournament takes place in the town hall of Hoogeveen. The games can be followed live via this website.
Hoogeveen Open
The Hoogeveen Open starts this year on Saturday 21 October. There is room for 40 players. They play nine rounds. There will be a double round on Wednesday 25 October. To participate in the tournament, participants must have a FIDE rating of at least 2100. In the absence of a FIDE rating, the national rating counts. The date of registration is leading.
Amateur tournament - afternoon
An amateur tournament will also be held in the afternoons from Saturday 21 October. There is room for 60 players. They play nine rounds. There will be a double round on Wednesday 25 October. To participate in the tournament, participants should have a FIDE rating of no more than 2200. In the absence of a FIDE rating, the national rating counts. The date of registration is leading.
Amateur tournament - morning
An amateur tournament will be played in the morning hours from Saturday 21 October. This is open to anyone with a FIDE rating of up to 2200. In the absence of a FIDE rating, the national rating counts. The date of registration is leading. This tournament has 7 rounds and a maximum of 100 participants. Wednesday 25 October is a rest day.
Rate of play
The rate of play for the Hoogeveen Open and amateur afternoon is 40 moves in 90 minutes, 30 minutes extra time + 30 seconds increment per move from move 1.
For the morning amateur group, the rate of play is 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move from move 1.

Registration for the first round is via email, telephone or app. Participants will be notified about this in the week prior to the tournament.

The entry fee for the Open Tournament is € 100; entrance is free for IGMs and IMs; FMs pay € 70; youth players, born in or after 2005, also pay € 70.
For participation in the amateur tournament in the morning, the registration fee for everyone is € 60.
The registration fee for participation in the amateur tournament in the afternoon is € 90. Young people born in or after 2005 pay € 70
The payment of the fee must be done beforehand.
Only if you have registered as well as paid on time you will be certain of participation.
